Comparing Beta 1,3/1,6 Glucan products is straight forward. All
you have to do is to find out how much 1,3/1,6 Terminal Linkage Glucan
(Active linkage) is in
the products you are considering.
The FDA requires every beta glucan product to have a printed
"Supplement Facts" panel. A product's Supplement Facts
panel tells more about the effectiveness of the product than most
websites.
The Supplement Facts panel will
always tell you the milligram dose of Beta Glucan in the product, but
there is no FDA requirement to tell you the purity of the Active Linkage
in the product.
There are only two types
of Supplement Facts panels.
One panel tells you the milligram
dose and the percentage of Active Linkage, the other tells just the
milligram dose.
This
is the panel from our product, which factually tells you what the
product contains.
1) The stated ingredients add up to 100%.
2) The 1,3 and 1,6 linkages are detailed. This
product contains 88.7% Active Linkage.
Since only the 1,3 and 1,6 linkages are proven to
effect the human immune system, the other linkages do not count.
This is why advanced immune system products are called "Beta
1,3/1,6 Glucan". The
following Supplement Fact panel is the most common.
 This
type of panel does not tell you the percentage of the 1,3 and 1,6 Active
Linkages, nor
does it add up to 100%. This Beta Glucan product might contain 10% or 80% Active
Linkage, but there is no way to know. If the actual linkages
are not shown, there is likely a reason they do not want to reveal
their level of purity. Every
product will have different values for the linked-glucose it
contains. Some retailers will add unrelated linkages, such as the
2,3 or 3,6, and claim their product is 95% or 100%
"pure". If you do not understand what the retailer is
doing, your immune system will. All
Beta Glucan products contain some amount of Beta 1,3/1,6 Glucan.
Just because the label makes a claim of containing Active Linkage, it
does not tell you the percentages of Active Linkage.
We are experienced Beta Glucan
wholesalers and factually know beta glucan product's Active Linkage
ranges from 18% to 88%, with the majority being 70% or less. This
is also confirmed by the JANA study ranking the Commercially Available
products at the left.
If you are serious about your
health, take the time to study supplement
fact panels on the Beta Glucan products you are considering.
An interesting fact is there are no published studies (on humans) with a beta glucan
product with
less than 80% Active Linkage. There is no clinical proof that a
product with less than 80% active linkage will work in
humans.
